Second life

Skyian: There is no hope left. Even after eons of our existence in this galaxy, we couldn’t find a planet where people like us can thrive.

Noila: Is this the end then?

Skyian: I guess! The legacy of our civilization ends here.

Suddenly, there is a knock on the door and Lenia enters. She is the sister of Skyian and even after everything happening in their galaxy, she hasn’t lost hope. She believes that they can still find out a way, even though they are just hours away from turning into mere dust.

Two years back when she was working in the galactical security unit of their planet she found that a rogue planet has entered their solar system and it’s going to hit their home planet directly. It was the thrice the size of their planet and there is no way that their planet could survive that hit. The other planets and the people living on their solar system have already lost their lives to it and now it was their turn.

“Skyian, I found something,” Lenia said as soon as he opened the door.

“What is it?” Skyian questioned holding his sister's shoulders with a glint of hope on his face.

“A planet. It’s blue, it has water and the perfect atmosphere for life.”

“Where is it? How far?”

“It’s...It’s in a milky way and it’s 20,000 light-years away from us.”

“Oh! Lenia. We will never be able to reach there. We won’t make it.”

“No, we won’t. I know that, but we can still save our lineage from ending. Our civilization won’t die, but it will get a second chance and if we can’t reach there then our bio-stones can. We will lock our DNA in them and if it manages to hit the right spot, our civilization can prosper again.”

“But it’s not for sure that..”

Noila cuts Skyian off in between,

“Let’s do this. It’s not about you and me, it’s about a second chance for intelligent life to find a home. We can do this together, love. It’s worth the risk” Noila consoles Skyian.

“Okay, let’s do this. Let’s go to the laboratory.”

In the laboratory:

Skyian: How long will it take for the bio-stone to reach there?

Lenia: 200 years approximately and soon after it collides with the planet, the DNA will start working to mold themselves according to circumstances on that planet. They might not turn out exactly like us because the environment might be appropriate for our species to grow there, but there are a lot of other factors that will be different.

Noila: What do you mean?

Lenia: Like time, weather, food, and species which are already living on that planet.

Skyian: There is already someone living on this planet?

Lenia: Yeah, but they are not intelligent species and this is a good thing that there is already someone on that planet. It will give DNA the chance to mutate with other species if that is what will be needed.

Skyian: okay, how long will it take for you to prepare the bio-stone?

Lenia: I have already done that.

Skyian: Thought so. When is the right time to launch it?

Lenia: Right now.

Noila: Let’s do it then.

Lenia: We just need to swipe this on the controller to release it into the atmosphere. Noila has always been great with her timings. I’m sure if you do it, we will be home.

Noila: Okay, Let me do this. To the second chances…

Lenia & Skyian: To the second chances.

Lenia: By the way, Noila, if you were on that planet; what name would you choose for it?

Noila: Earth.
