Quarantine log #25

It’s 6:02 right now and I just got done with reading a little bit of “Sapiens: A brief history of humankind” and it’s an amazing book. I have been wanting to read it for a long time now. It’s my 59th day in quarantine but our government has lifted most of the lockdown in the country now and it appears that life is getting back to normal but is it? On the surface, yes it is and it’s going to actually fall back to the same old normal again but the definition of normal has changed.

This is a pre quarantine world and even if it looks like everything is getting back to normal. It’s not. Between the pre quarantine and post quarantine world, a new normal has taken place and we have to get used to it.

This post quarantine or post lockdown world is going to be more about doing things as much as possible from the comfort and safety of home. Whether it’s getting groceries, shopping, going to school, university or office and most probably we are going to be okay with that. Most of us are going to be okay with this new normal. Many of the things which were not online before are going to shift online. You used to travel abroad or to a different state for a single meeting? Well, hopefully such meetings are not going to take place anymore in the same old fashion and they will be happening online while you are at your office or home. Many of the educational services will go online and prefer to teach kids online rather than calling a group of hundred students to sit in a single room. Cash transactions are going to get lesser and lesser because first it would be safer to transact online then get in the whole process of exchanging physical money in person and second if we are exchanging non-tangible services online then it means we will also need to transact online. Masks are going to be the new handkerchiefs, maybe even more important than handkerchiefs but yeah I know you get the meaning. No longer you are going to shake hands with the stranger just because you should or no longer you are going to be okay with touching things which don’t know how many people must have touched. I remember there was a time when going to the apple store and wearing an apple watch to just see how was it looking, didn’t endanger my life. Even if the number of COVID-19 patients increase in the future, it won’t mean that we are going to be in the lockdown again. It will just simply mean that new laws will come in favor of more social distancing between people. The world is not going to stop now because someone or something out there is waiting to attack us but the world has to ADJUST. The world has to continue even if it has changed and it’s time that we get ourselves ready for that.

I don’t know if we all have survived the worst or we need to be ready to face it anyway, but I know that it’s not going to be the same.

Let me know in the comments below that which country are you from?
