Quarantine log #13

Hey! It’s 6:46 in the PM and I’m writing real late today but that’s okay! Right? So, anyway it’s the second day of lockdown 3.0 in my country. Shops started opening today and people are trying to get back to work, run their businesses. You know the usual stuff and a part of me is happy for that too because people will be living normal life again but of course I do worry about the consequences which might come with it.

Okay, so today I want to talk about something which is very common among people to do on social media and even in real life sometimes. God forbid you come across such people in real or online world. I’m talking about people who spread hate. There are many occurrences when condemning someone has reaped positive results also but the person should have done something really bad for that. In that case a stand for the right thing to be done should be taken but I won’t put it in the category of spreading hate then. I would say it’s the courage to stand against something wrong. But, I have been noticing that people actually get triggered by something very small in online world and just because someone’s actions are not in alignment of their beliefs or rules then they have the right to speak against that. Trust me, I have came across a lot of things on social media till now which I don’t agree with and some of them were things said by some really good and successful people. But I have to understand that they are not doing anything wrong by saying or doing a particular thing, it’s just that I don’t like it and that’s not their problem. Also, in that case I keep my comments to myself because If I don’t have something nice to say, I would prefer to stay quiet. But a lot of people fail to understand that and they start giving their piece of mind when no one really asked for it. Hence, if handful of people tend to agree with them, then it boosts their ego and if not then I’m pretty sure they will keep on hating that person for the rest of their life or at least till they are mature enough to understand that it had nothing to do with them.

Now, I know that some of you will say that when we come online and express our beliefs openly in online world then we gotta develop a thick skin. In short we gotta learn not to pay any kind of heed to such people which is okay. I understand that and a lot of people have done that quite nicely. They block out all the negative and harsh comments from their mind and stay focused on the positive. But, this post is not about them. It’s about what kind of online world we are striving to create. A happy place where people are allowed to speak their mind in beautiful and positive manner and there is a space for us to grow or a place where people are getting triggered by something like why the person hasn’t worn seat-belt while sitting in the car in some picture when that person might be just sitting in their own garage.

The choice is ours. Right?
